Police Avert Bomb Blast in Maiduguri

 

Policemen on surveillance and foot patrol have prevented a bomb blast on Tuesday in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

A statement by the Borno State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, said the patrol team discovered a suspicious bag abandoned at Layin Logo, Moduganari area of Maiduguri containing a bomb.

“The Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit Base 13 was immediately deployed to the scene, where an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) concealed in the bag was identified and safely detonated in line with standard operating procedures,” Daso said.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons or objects to the nearest Police Station or through emergency lines: 0806 807 5581, 0802 347 3293.

Daso said investigations are ongoing into the incident.
