Police chief orders crackdown on bandits in Katsina, Kaduna 

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 14, Katsina, AIG Bello Shehu, has directed coordinated and strategic crackdown on banditry and other violent crimes across Katsina and Kaduna states.

A statement issued by the zone’s Public Relations Officer,.ASP Umar Muhammad said the AIG has directed Commissioners of Police in the two states to deploy specialized tactical units to assert operational dominance.

He said they must dismantle all criminal organizations, and maintain a visible and sustained policing presence across all identified high-risk locations within the two states.

AIG Shehu also directed the Commissioners to strengthen inter-agency collaboration through joint operations involving other sister security agencies.

“This unified approach has the capacity to improve operational synergy, facilitate enhanced intelligence sharing, and ensure prompt and effective response to security challenges throughout the zone, he said.

He said as all tactical Units have been placed on red alert, they were also directed to maintain continuous patrols across forested regions, rural communities, major highways, places of worship, and other public venues.

“Supervisory officers have been explicitly directed to ensure discipline, operational effectiveness, and accountability among personnel,” the statement added.

“The AIG urges citizens of the Zone to maintain security awareness and to contribute to ongoing initiatives by providing pertinent and timely information to security agencies.”
