The Zamfara state Police Command has announced the abduction of a Chinese national, a staff with Chinese Geological Cooperation identified as Ren Dajun, by yet to be identified persons at the bush of irrigation scheme in Amumu village, under Bakura local government area last Wednesday.
Confirming the incident in a statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Muhammed Shehu, said the search and rescue team has since embarked on action with a view to ensure that the victim is rescued and to arrest the assailants for prosecution subsequently.
He said necessary measures have been taken to trace the whereabouts of both the victim and the culprits, therefore advising the general public to for the sake of sustainability of continued efforts of the Police in protecting lives and property, report any questionable movements to the Police for prompt action.
“Security is a burden that lies on everyone’s shoulder hence, no strange faces or activities should be ignored, members of any community are expected to work closely with security agencies as that could only help to get protected”, SP Shehu advised.
He further warned that, people should avoid taking laws into their hands but, rather reporting to the Police for legitimate handling of cases for better and everlasting resolutions.
