Police denies arrest of Goje’s family members

The Gombe state Police Command has denied the arrest of family members of Sen. Mohammed Danjuma Goje, which was earlier reported by the media.

The police spokesman, DSP Fwaji Atajiri, who stated this yesterday in Gombe, also said that the publication was an attempt to deliberately malign the good name of Gombe state Police Command.

He however said the command remains focused on its professional and constitutional responsibilities of due enforcement of laws and regulations that preserve law and order.

The police  spokesman, noted that governor Dankwambo who visited the Federal University Kashere on official assignment  on Thursday had a smooth ride to Kashere, not knowing that there was a plan to attack his convoy however, after the official function at the Federal University at Kashere on his way back to Gombe his convoy came under heavy attack, where missiles were thrown from all directions to the Governor’s convoy and the official bullet proof vehicle of the governor, the miscreants were suspected to have used a lethal weapon as could be seen on the shattered side screen,  where the governor sat in his official car.

He said the security details of the governor fought spiritedly to avoid a serious calamity on the governor and his convoy, adding that the situation which appeared degenerating call for immediate re-enforcement to prevent further attack.

Command to bring the perpetrators to book.

He added that six suspects are already in Police custody assisting the police with useful information, stressing that the action by the perpetrators was criminal and police acted appropriately.
