The police in Sapele Division in Delta State have arrested and detained a 14- year old boy ( name withheld) for allegedly raping one Ejiro Iyade in the area after which she was dumped at the Lana hospital in the area.
The mother of the victim, Mrs Edith Iyade had at the weekend reported to Sapele Police Division the alleged rape of her daughter Ejiro by the 14- year old boy in the area who after the evil act dumped her in the hospital for treatment.
But the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Of the Station, Akande Abubakar who Confirmed the incident to our Correspondent in Asaba said investigation was ongoing with a view to bringing the culprit to law and order.
It was gathered that the Victim a Senior Secondary School 1 (SSS1) student of a private school in Sapele town was allegedly laured to Standard Fort hotel at Adegor, Off Adeniyi road area of the town by the Suspect on the fate Friday where she was alleged to have been repeatedly raped.
It was further gathered that the Suspect had refused the teenger to Lana hospital, Atufe road, Sapele when he found out that she was bleeding and reportedly left her there, but a relation of the victim who spoke to our Correspondent on Condition of anonymity said” the Suspect took her to the hospital, paid advance for the medical fee and abandoned her there and it was her parents who paid the balance of the hospital bills and reported to the Police”.
Meanwhile, a 26 year old man Emeka Ozilli who allegedly had an unlawful knowledge of an 80year old woman in 2007 at Obomkpa community in Delta state has been conditionally released by the State Chief Judge Justice Marshall Umukoro due to the victim’s lack of interest in prosecuting the case.
The suspect who was admitted trial inmates, was released by the Chief Judge Justice Marshall Umukoro at Agbor Correctional Center in Constitution of his 2020 quarterly visit to Custodial Centers in the state.
The Chief Judge ordered that the Suspect should be released from detention only after his Sister signed an undertaking that he will be of good behaviour for a period of three years at High Court five Asaba.
Justice Marshall Umukoro who granted bail to four inmates, decried a situation where victims of sexual Offences subccumed to pressures , especially from family members to withdraw cases against the Suspects, adding that the act had made difficult for lawyers to pusuit their cases effectively at the law court.
Also, the police in Ogwashi Uku Division are yet to arrest any suspect in connection with the murder of one Nkemjika Nkwor and her 10year old niece, Favour Onyeje.
It was gathered that the husband of the deceased Mr NKwor is still admitted at Ogwashi Uku General Hospital as the health since the death of his wife has not improved.
Contacted, the Police Commissioner in the state, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah said that the Police were still Investigating the incident adding that the police will do everything possible to unravel those behind the death of housewife and others.
Recall that the body of Mrs Nkemjika Nkwor and her 10year old niece, Favour Onyeje were discovered in their one room apartment located at the back to of Comprehensive Secondary School Ogwashi Uku, Isiokwe Azungwu Quarters. But the husband of the deceased, Mr Nkwor was also met with his head lying on the body of the late Favour Onyeje in the state unconsciousness.
