Police kill 1 robber, arrest 4 in Kaduna

The Kaduna Police Command yesterday said that its men on patrol have killed one armed robber in a gun battle with men of the underworld at Malali in Kaduna North Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Aminu Lawan disclosed this while speaking with this reporter in Kaduna yesterday.

According to him, 3 armed robbers on the 20th October, 2014 attacked one Idris Shuaibu who runs a filling station opposite Federal Government College, Malali on his way home at the new Malali layout Kaduna.

According to SP Lawan ,”Police patrol team on routine patrol had the sound of gunshot and immediately dashed to the area.

“In a fierce gun battle that ensue between the robber and the police, one of the robbers was killed while others escaped into a nearby bush with bullet wounds and abandoned an Honda Halla which is their operational vehicle.

“When search was conducted on the vehicle, the following arms and ammunition were recovered which includes: one AK 47 rifle, 177 round of 66mm live ammunition. Under Halla with registration number AP 244 GWA and extra magazine of AK 47 rifle.”

Similarly, the PPRO said two armed robbery suspects, Yakubu Hayatu, 27 years and Aliyu Buhai, 26 years were arrested with a Corolla car with registration number AW 307 MKA suspected to have been stolen from Niger state.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed that one Okoh Buozee (now at large) robbed the vehicle from it owner at gunpoint and sold it to them at the sum of Three Hundred Thousand (N300, 000:00) Naira.

The suspects also confessed to have participated in series of robbery operations in Kaduna and Niger States. Effort is on-going to track down their gang members,” SP Lawan however said.
