Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have killed 3 suspected kidnappers and recovered two AK- 47 rifles as well as 49 rounds of live ammunitions.
The Niger state Command, PPRO SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement, saying that the Police Special Task Force engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle which one victim was rescued while other suspects escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds.
He said, in continuation of the Niger State Police Command’s clearance operations in some identified kidnappers’ hideouts, based on intelligence received, the command’s Special Task Team (STT), FID-STS, with
vigilante members, carried out a clearance operation within Kokolo Forest via Kawo-Auna village, Nasko, Magama Local Government Area.
Abiodun further said some of the kidnappers escaped into the forest with gunshot injuries, and a victim was rescued.
He urged members of the public, especially residents of the neighboring villages to inform security agents of anyone found with gunshot injuries.
