Anti-robbery team of Policemen attached to Ogwashi Uku Police Division in Delta State on Tuesday arrested two suspected members of an armed robbery gang who have allegedly been responsible for series of robbery incidences in the area
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to journalists in Asaba, gave their names as: Ifeanyi Ojeogo,21, and Chukwunoso Okafor,25, adding that they were arrested around Cudi Street off Isah road in Ogwashi Uku Community shortly after they allegedly disposed two ladies of their belongings at gunpoint
DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya said that the suspects upon interrogation confessed to the crime, adding that they also claimed responsibility of robbing indigenes of the area as notorious armed robbery gang after they could not continue their studies at the higher Institutions of learning in the state.
Meanwhile, the police have recovered an unidentified corpse already decomposing inside Utulu Community Forest in the state, adding that the corpse may have died as a result of gunshots which pierced through the back of his head during a cross fire.
DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, Police Public Relations Officer in the state confirmed that the victim according to investigation, hailed from Azagba Ogwashi Uku Community who also may have been killed by suspected herdsmen, adding that Utulu vigilante group uncovered the corpse and notified the police who immediately swung into action and uncovered the corpse inside the bush as investigation was ongoing.
