The Niger State Police Command based on information received about a syndicate who specializes in stealing goats around Kpakungu, Soje areas of Minna has arrested four suspects in connection with such crimes in Minna.
A statement issued by the Niger State Police Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the syndicate was sighted and the Police TST team responded, but the thieves zoomed off in a Honda Civic vehicle with Reg. No. MNA 342 AA.
It noted that the vehicle was intercepted around Shiroro Hotel and three suspects were arrested.
During interrogation, the suspects, Shehu Buhari, Musa Idris both of Barkin-Sale, Minna and Idrisu Aliyu (Dagrin) of Kaffintela, Minna, said they have been stealing goats in Minna for the past five years to survive, saying they have stolen over 500 goats at different locations in city of Minna.
It was further stated that they do sell the goats at the rate of ten thousand to fifteen thousand, depending on the size.
It was also revealed that butchers in Maitumbi and Tunga areas, were their customers.
Also, Idris Dagrin’s vehicle, Honda Civic was always being used to convey the animals.
The suspects mentioned two receivers, out of which; one Murtala Dan-Azumi of Tunga was arrested, and Hussaini Yahaya is at large.
Efforts are ongoing to arrest the said Labaran and Hussaini.
