Three robbers terrorising the NPA area of Warri were intercepted at NPA on Monday afternoon where they had robbed some persons.
It was gathered that the robbers took to their heels and fled in a tricycle towards the Airport Road at Effurun when the police stormed the area.
An eye witness, Mr. Omas who is a tricycle driver, stated that one of the robbers had jumped out of the moving tricycle while the other two continued in their escape route.
He went further to narrate how the robbers had been oppressing and robbing people, using tricycles in the area.
Mr Omas said that activities of such robbers had made boarding tricycles in the evening in the area a nightmare.
He expressed gratitude to the police for risking their lives to give the robbers a hot chase and called on residents in the city of Warri to always be on the alert and report any suspicious movements timely to the police.
It was confirmed by the police that one of the robbers, who jumped off the moving tricycle, was shot in the leg and arrested, while the other two fleeing robbers were still at large.
