Police parade 97 suspects behind foreign flag, looting in Borno

The Borno State Police Command on Saturday paraded 96 suspects who were arrested during 1st August nationwide Protests for violence, looting, theft and hoisting foreign flag in Borno state.
The Commissioner of Police, Yususfu Mohammed Lawal said the command has recovered exhibits and stolen items during the EndBadGovernment protest.
CP Lawal stated this while briefing journalists at the Crack Office Maiduguri.
He said that the command in collaboration with other security agencies, took proactive measures to maintain law and order.
He said the measures mitigated the breakdown of law and order intended by the unguided miscreants who took advantage of the protests to carry out their nefarious acts.
The Commissioner represented by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Kenneth Daso, said before the protests, while monitoring the cyber space, Seven (7) Suspects who are social media influencers, were arrested for instigating their social media followers to carry arms and constitute violence across the state and insulting top government officials, clerics and traditional leaders.
Similarly, 7 suspects were found hoisting foreign flags which is perceived to jeopardized the sovereignty of the nation and a threat to National Security.
He added that, 83 suspects were also arrested at various locations within the MMC for vandalizing public and private properties, committing mischief by fire- burning tyres and plastics on roads, rioting, and looting of items from stores, shops and roadside.
He said damages recorded include vandalization of WFP warehouse at Baga-road and looting of offices and food items including removal of interlocks, flower vessels, streetlights and pedestrian bridge barricade at Bulumkutu, Lagos street.
