Police protest nonpayment of salaries in Adamawa

Aggrieved police men attached to Adamawa state Command have staged a protest over payment of their two months outstanding salaries.
The visibly noticed annoyed officers disclosed their displeasure in Yola Monday after besieging the premises of the Nigeria Police Force,NPF Micro-Finance bank Yola demanding immediate payment of their pending salaries.
When contacted on the matter, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Othman Abubakar, declined comment, saying he is not competent to speak on the matter.
Branch Manager, NPF Micro Finance Bank, Haruna Yusuf while reacting on the allegation said, the police authority has not remitted the funds meant for the payment of the salaries of the affected policemen to the bank.
According to him, police command in the state informed him,that the funds is with the budget office force headquarters Abuja,awaiting approval”
“ I am just from the state police headquarters Yola,I was informed that,the funds meant for payment of the affected policemen is still with the budget office of police headquarters in Abuja.
“As soon as the funds are made available to the bank,they would start getting their alert.
“That is the only information I know about the matter, you can go and verify,” Yusuf explained.
Investigations revealed that, policemen in large numbers were affected in the state, while their counterparts from other banks have been collecting their salaries as at when due.
The aggrieved policemen also, appealed on the federal government to intervene in the matter, saying their families are dying in hunger.
