The Zamfara State Police Command has rescued 15 people including two children of one year old each who were abducted by bandits at Dike village under Funtua local government area of Katsina State.
The rescued had spent 50 days in captivity, according to the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf represented by the Command’s Spokesman, SP Shehu Mohammed.
He said all have been taken to hospital for medical checks, debriefed and already handed over to their families.
SP Mohammed noted that. the Police operatives on receiving the intelligence mobilized to the location and conducted search and rescue operation at Sabon Garin Dutsin Kaura forest in Danjibga district of Tsafe local government area and the operation was successfully conducted, leading to the rescue of the victims hale and hearty.
In the same vein, on 29th November 2022, Police Tactical Operatives acted on intelligence and arrested a female suspect identified as Gaje Abdullahi who specialises in transporting Arms and Ammunition to a notorious bandit kingpin Known as Dawa.
“The said bandit kingpin has been a notorious bandit leader terrorising the innocent people of Zamfara and neighbouring states. The suspect confessed to her involvement in the crime. Investigation is in progress.
“On the same date, Police Tactical Operatives have arrested 6 Suspects who pretend as bandits to place levies on their host communities upon which they collected millions of naira through a bank account they created for this purpose.
“In the course of investigation, all the suspects confessed to the crime and further stated that part of the activities was to send threatening message to the villages to either pay money or face attack.
“They further confessed of receiving millions of naira from five different communities, currently, discreet investigation is ongoing aimed at apprehending other suspects that involve in this crime”, the Commissioner has stated.
