Police to combat car theft in Niger

Niger State Police Command said it has concluded plans to rejig the Central Motor Registry so as to combat car theft in the state.
The command in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the initiative is to address vehicle related offences, including car theft, car snatching, kidnapping, carjacking and hit and run.
The command attributed the ugly incidents to the use of unregistered vehicles, tinted windows among other factors.
According to Abiodun, the CMR portal is a web-based self-service portal, where members of the public, and car owners can create a profile that will enable them to apply for NPF CMR certificate through the web address https://cmris.npf.gov.ng.
This, he said would be with the use of a National Identification Number (NIN), Tax Identification Number (TIN), Drivers’ license, Phone number, and a valid email address. The CMR services among others
The command urged car owners to visit the Force portal to create profile that will enable them to apply for CMR certificate.
