From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau
A member of the Elders committee, who is also a political king maker of the Zamfara state
opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alh. Isa Mayana and his son, Tsalha Uban Doma, were yesterday admitted in Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital following attack launched on them by suspected hired political thugs at his Gusau residence, in the state capital.
According to a family source, the incidence occurred at about 10:00pm Wednesday, when the son suddenly heard his father shouting for help from his bedroom as a young suspected thug strangled him in effort to force a knife into his neck.
The source, who spoke despite family decision not to speak with
journalists on the matter yet, further revealed that another young man carrying cutlass rushed into the room in fiercely attack to prevent the son from rescuing his father, however, the situation left both attacked seriously matcheted to the extent they could not move any longer.
Majority of the disturbed family members, who spoke under anonymity have concluded that the attack was purely political as not even a needle was demanded
or found missing in the room. Adding that, “The attack on our beloved father was purely political as he was not asked of either money or any other valuable item in his possession”.
It would be recalled, two other esteemed members of the PDP in the state, former Commissioner of Land and Survey, Ibrahim Sani Bakura and the Chairman Youth Empowerment Committee (YECO), Isma’ila Zakariyya were assassinated last year by suspected hired political thugs separately.
Incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Engineer Ibrahim Shehu Bakauye, who is now gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of PDP, has sued Senator Yarima and 29 others accusing them of attempt to murder him over expression of his gubernatorial ambition under the umbrella of APC before he was compelled to defect to PDP.
While contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state Command, DSP Lawal Abdullahi, confirmed the incident, stressing that, Police have already swung into action to find and bring the perpetrators to book.
