All Progressives Congress, APC, woman Leader Benue State Mrs. Helen Pine has requested for 35 percent inclusivity of women in the forthcoming local government election.
Mrs. Pine who made this passionate appeal while speaking to newsmen in Makurdi on Tuesday, said women are gearing up to contest chairmanship and councilorship positions and should be supported to occupy such positions.
While demanding that at least three women should occupy chairmanship position in the three zones of the State, she said, “where a man is chairman, a woman should be deputy or secretary of council.”
The Woman Leader lauded Governor Hyacinth Alia for appointing several women in his cabinet and agencies of government, assuring him that the women will continually stand with his government to succeed.
