The new board of Nigerian Hockey Federation (NHF) has been tasked to create more awareness about the game nationwide to arose people’s interest in it and bring hockey fans back to the game for it to develop, Chairman Niger State Hockey Association, Hon Mohammed Sani Idris Kutigi has said.
Hon Sani Kutigi, who is a member of the House of Representation representing Lavun/ Mokwa/ Edati, Federal constituency of Niger state, said that poor awareness is the bane of hockey development in Nigeria, adding that for the game to regain its lost glory those previously supporting it must come back to root for the game for it to develop.
“Awareness is the major challenge facing the development of hockey in Nigeria, the awareness was there and suddenly people were moving to football neglecting the game now we have brought people who know the game so that the game can move forward.
