Date:

From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau

The people of Samaru area in Gusau Zamfara state capital have resolved to sue the Kaduna Electrical Distribution Company (KAEDCO) Gusau business unit over what they described as denial of right to energy consumption alongside other gross misconducts by the KAEDCO Head of Unit.
In a petition which was made available to Peoples Daily yesterday by the Counsel to the community, barrister Muhammad Nura Danladi, the management of the KAEDCO Gusau business unit have failed to entertain a complaint that, a Unit head in charge of the area identified as Tijjani Ahmad a.k.a TJ is fraudulently imposing additional 1000 naira verbally on due charges.
The petition further cried that, the community had earlier contributed to have purchased a new transformer after spending several months without any provision for replacement of the broken down one from KAEDCO, which the same embattled Head of Unit embarked upon illegal connections for illegitimate consumers capable of knocking it again.
The newly installed transformer is currently suffering overload and illegal connections being facilitated by the KAEDCO Head of Unit upon which numerous heavy duty machines are being operated, the situation which according to the petition could easily weak the new transformer.
It further reads apart, “We have sent our delegates to meet with the Business Development and Regional Officer (BDRO), Aminu A. Yakubu to amicably solve the matter but, he worsened it all instead for he replied that, a customer has no right to dictate to the KAEDCO on how to run its affairs.
“The BDRO refused to give listening ear to the complaint lodged by the consumers despite the (BDRO) and other management staffers of the KAEDCO were once summoned by the state Commissioner for rural electrification, Alhaji Lawali M. Liman who solicited for constitutional handling of the matter”, the petition added.
“Take notice that within one month after the receipt of this letter inclusive of the date of service, if your company fails, neglected and or refuse to accede to these demands, we shall thus be compelled to perfect the firm instruction of our client by instituting an action against your company in a court of competent Jurisdiction”, the petition has threatened.
