Ahead of the governorship election and others elections in Delta State, fresh troubles in the result of manipulations after the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, has continued to generate ripples as aggrieved members of the party especially among the governorship aspirants, have dumped the party for the Accord Party where they have resolved they could pursue their ambition unhindered.
Among the prominent defectors are Hon. Victor Ochei the former speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Funkekeme Solomon a former member of the House and a serving Commissioner, Barr. Ovie Omo-Agege a former Secretary to the State Government and governorship aspirant who have alleged complicity and irregularities in the party.
In a similar twist, it was reliably gathered that former governorship aspirant of the party (PDP) and a serving member of the House of Reps. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu was favoured to return the third time to the House of Representatives just as the self-acclaimed winner of the House of Reps from Aniocha Federal Constituency, Mrs. Adore Mrakpor was asked to returned back to her seat at the state House assembly for the third term even as the winner of the Aniocha-North assembly seat, Miss. Angela Nwaka was promised a commissionership slot for the inconveniences in the spirit of the party.
A PDP chieftain who did not want his name in the print, told our correspondent that the party may be heading for a doom and warned on the dangers of impunity in the leadership and the stakeholders of the party who mastermind the manipulations would be faced with
He maintained that having won the primary elections, it is a prerogative rights of the winner to take possession of the winning to kick start his or her campaign through the ticket, stressing that it’s most undemocratic for PDP stakeholders to substitute the candidates.
According to him: “it is therefore clear that some persons own the party more than others and how else do one explain that one wins and election only for another to take possession and begin to campaign. It is obviously a political ruse”
Meanwhile investigations revealed that there have been arms buildup across the state and it has continued to pose serious threat at various camps of the politician who have been accused in recent times of using various cult group members to perfect rigging.
