Principals in Junior and Senior Schools, have been urged to always promote sustain quality and acceptable attitude in the teaching and learning process, irrespective of their ownership status in the FCT.
This charge was given by the FCT Administration through its Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr. Bala Mohammed Liman during a recent interactive session with the principals.
Liman reminded them that things can no longer be done in the same way as before, as there should be attitudinal and institutional change.
He stressed that the FCT Principals must work within the stipulated, rules and regulations to avoid creating bad image for the FCT Administration.
He noted that the education sector is a key sector in the development of the Territory, hence it should not be toyed with.
He therefore warned against any act of indiscipline in the day to day school management, with emphasis on absenteeism, lateness, laziness and unnecessary excuses, which according to him do not add values to the system.
According to him, school heads must first and foremost impact knowledge, be role models and bring up students as responsible individuals for a brighter.
He added that everyone in the education sector must carry out his/her duty with high sense of responsibility and desist from conduct that are capable of jeopardizing the image of the FCT Administration.
The Secretary however expressed his displeasure at the low pace of infrastructural development in schools, adding that, the Boards, agencies and departments under the Education Secretariat should be proactive.
He enjoined them to prioritize the needs of the various schools, in order to ensure improved academic performance of students and create a conducive and safe learning environment.
“The school heads were also told to take adequate security measures to ensure total safety of the students and staff in their custody as well as avoiding illegal charges thereby putting burden on parents and guardians unnecessarily.
“Other issues that came to the front burner include extra moral lessons for terminal classes, diligence, punctuality commitment and working together as a team with their vice principals and staff to achieved the same objectives.
“The meeting had in attendance the education secretariat management team and all the FCT please.
