A non governmental organisation known as Propcom+ funded by UK Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) has targeted 3.79 million Nigerians by 2030 by addressing the key barriers to sustainable agricultural development and increase productivity, enhance resilience to climate change, pursue lower emission and improve access to nutritious diets.
This was announced by the Propcom+ policy facilitator in charge of North ( Kano,Kaduna and Jigawa), comrade Hamza Yunusa during an interactive sessions with agriculture stakeholders on the agriculture budget process, allocation, release and implementation.
Mr Yunusa explained that, Propcom+ is an International Climate Finance (ICF) programme that aims to support the transformation of Nigeria’s rural economy by addressing environmental, social, and economic challenges in the country’s food and land-use system.
“The programme aims to enhance the income and climate resilience of 3.79 million Nigerians by 2030 by addressing the key barriers to sustainable agricultural development to increase productivity, enhance resilience to climate change, pursue lower emissions, improve access to nutritious diets, as well as helping tackle some of Nigeria’s underlying drivers of conflict”,he said.
