Following the recent order by the Abia State government to traders operating at Lobbanta Garke Cattle Market, Umunneochi LGA, Abia state to relocate to a new site immediately, a group under the auspice of Northern Consensus Movement (NCM) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to come to the rescue of northerners to stop the destruction of lives and property of innocent Northern people in the five Eastern states.
The President of NCM Comrd Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu asserted this during a press conference held in Kaduna yesterday.
According to him, the group is left with little or no option but to appeal to the president as the commander-in-chief to ensure that the silent killing of Northerners residing in the Eastern state especially Abia is brought to an end.
He added that NCM received the delegation of Garke Cattle Market Lobbanta Imo State under the leadership of Buba Abdullahi yesterday.
Comrd Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu stressed that the major role of NCM is to protect the interest of the North and Northerners according to the ambit of the law and also said their activities are based on trust and always speak on what is right which is why they have recognition everywhere in Nigeria and even from outside the country.
He therefore called on the Governor of Abia State to withdraw his statement on 14 day ultimatum given to the Northerners that are doing their business in Garke Cattle Market.
