PSC opens portal for recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced the commencement of the recruitment of 50,000 police constables into the Nigeria Police Force, following the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The recruitment exercise is aimed at boosting community policing, improving internal security, and increasing the manpower strength of the Force.

According to the PSC, the online portal for applications will open on Monday, December 15, 2025, and close on Sunday, January 25, 2026. Interested and qualified Nigerians have been urged to apply through the official portal: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

The Commission outlined the qualifications required for both categories. Applicants for the General Duty cadre must possess GCE O’Level, SSCE/NECO or equivalent certificates with at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings.

Applicants for the Specialists cadre must have at least four credits, including English and Mathematics, alongside a minimum of three years’ relevant experience and trade tests in their chosen fields.

Other eligibility requirements include being a Nigerian citizen by birth, being between ages 18 and 25 for General Duty or 18 and 28 for Specialists, and being medically, physically, and psychologically fit. Height requirements apply only to General Duty applicants, with males expected to be at least 1.67m tall and females at least 1.64m.

The PSC stressed that the entire process will be transparent and strictly merit-based. It also warned applicants to beware of scammers, emphasizing that the recruitment is completely free and no payment is required at any stage.

The PSC encouraged qualified Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity to contribute to national security.
