The FCT chapter of Nigeria Association of women journalists, (NAWOJ), has commended the Director General of Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), for promoting due process and transparency in procurement of public assets and award of contracts.
NAWOJ-FCT led by its Chairperson Comrade Stella Okoh–Esene gave this commendation in Abuja, when the new executive members of NAWOJ FCT paid the BPP DG, Mr. Mamma Ahmadu a courtesy visit in his office.
The Association called for collaboration with the Bureau to defend the rights of citizens in ensuring that application of fair, competitive, transparent, standards and practices for the procurement and disposal of public assets.
“We make bold to identify with your determined efforts to ensure that due process is followed in the procurement of public assets, by keeping Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on their feet as well as providing a level pay ground for all contractors across board,” NAWOJ-FCT chairperson said.
Responding, the BPP boss, who equally praised women for taken over in most endeavours, noted that it is time for them to fight to take over leadership from men.
Ahmadu called on the citizenry to show concern towards public properties such as roads and other infrastructures with a view to safeguard them and sustainability.
According to him, “government came into existence to address collective interests and so people should tell government what they want and they would get it.
“It is time for Nigerians to begin to pay taxes like the days of oil boom in the country.
“And we look forward to collaborate with you for the achievement of your mandate, he assured the Association.”
