From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna
The Rafi Development Foundation (RDF) has expressed deep concern over the recent ethnic violent clashes in Tegina District of Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, calling on all parties involved to immediately embrace peace and refrain from actions capable of further escalating the situation.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Chairman, Rafi Development Foundation (RDF) Malam Ibrahim Ahmed Ushama in Minna, the Foundation strongly condemns the unfortunate loss of lives, destruction of property, and disruption of peaceful coexistence resulting from the conflict.
According to him, Such acts of violence only serve to deepen divisions, inflict suffering on innocent residents, and hinder the social and economic development of the affected communities.
He stated that, as a Foundation committed to the promotion of peace, unity, and sustainable development, the Rafi Development Foundation urges community leaders, youth groups, traditional institutions, and other stakeholders to prioritise dialogue as the most effective means of resolving grievances and misunderstandings.
The Foundation appealed to all concerned to reject any form of retaliation, provocation, or incitement that could lead to further breakdown of law and order. Peaceful coexistence has long been a defining characteristic of the people of Rafi, and every effort must be made to preserve this cherished heritage for present and future generations.
Similarly, RDF extends its gratitude to the Niger State Government, Rafi Local Government authorities, Emir of Kagara and other traditional rulers, religious leaders, and all stakeholders for their ongoing efforts toward restoring peace and fostering reconciliation among the affected communities.
