Rafin-Sanyi flood disaster: Monarch tasks Niger governor on relief materials to victims

The village Head of Rafin-Senyi community in Suleja Local Government of Niger State, Alhaji Zakari Madaki, has called on the Niger Governor, Dr. Abubakar Sani Bello to deem it necessary to provide relief materials to the affected victims of flood disaster Rafin-Senyi community.
Madaki, who made the call in an interview with our reporter in his palace on Monday in Rafin-Senyi, disclosed that the flood had carried away fourteen people and destroyed many houses in the community.
He appealed to the Chairman of Suleja Local Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Maje to provide accommodations to the affected victims in order to alleviate their suffering.
The traditional ruler thanked the Emir of Suleja, Alhaji Muhammadu Awwal Ibrahim and other government functionaries who visited the scene of the flood disaster to see things for themselves.
Speaking in the same vein, the community leader of Rafin-Senyi Unity, Alhaji Isah Lawal, pleaded with the government of Niger State to provide the affected victims with food stuff.
Lawal advised the entire residents of Rafin-Senyi community to stop building their houses in the waterways.
On his part, the Chairman of Works Committee on Road project in Rafin-Senyi, Elder Ralph Nwafor, called for the provision of relief materials to the victims of flood disaster by the government of Niger State.
He, therefore, begged the government of Niger State to re-construct the bridges which were collapsed during the disaster in Rafin-Senyi community for the benefits of the residents living there.
Nwafor reviewed that the bridge which collapsed in Rafin-Senyi Unity was constructed by the people of the community for so long now, alleging that the authority of Suleja Local Government has not executed any meaningful projects in the area.
On their separate reactions, Chief Joseph Chukwu, Pastor Oliver, Christ Joe, Mr. Abiodun Fashola and Rukiyat Adamu who were affected by the flood, solicited assistance from the Government of Niger State and Suleja Local Government on relief materials in order to meet up with basic necessities of life.
