In the spirit of the ongoing holy month of Ramadan, a Muslim group under the aegis of the Mass Literacy for the Less Privileged of Almajiris Initiative (MALLPAI) foundation has feted thousands of less privileged persons with assorted food items.
The group led by Hajia Aishatu Atiku Bagudu treated indigent Muslims faithful drawn from the FCT and neighbouring Nasarawa and Kaduna states to a lavish Iftar meals recently in Abuja, the nation federal capital city.
Mrs Bagudu who expressed gratitude to Allah for seeing Muslims faithful through the 20th day of the month of Ramadan urged adherent if the Islamic faith to maintain piety even after the end of Ramadan period.
She also emphasized the importance of harmonious relationship between Muslim and other religious groups, particularly Christians in promoting peace and unity in the country.
“As we return to our respective homes, we must endeavour to sustain the tradition of offering prayers for unity and peaceful coexistence in our country,” she stated.
She called on the beneficiaries who were given take away packs of food items to avoid any act that could not only land them in trouble but also breach the peace in the country.
Recalling the philanthropic gesture of the foundation for the past 20 years, she pledged to sustain the tradition of reaching out to the needy in the month of Ramadan in the coming years.
She equally called on the rich and privileged Nigerians to reach out to the underprivileged in the society since it is in line with the Islamic injunction.
Also speaking in the same vein, the wife of the Minister of Defence, Hajia Bilkisu Matawalle stressed the need for peaceful coexistence among adherents of various faiths in the country.
The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on School Feeding, Dr Yetunde Adeniji underlined the need for Muslim faithful to imbibe the virtue of love for one another.
“The month of Ramadan is a special month; it is a month of caring for one another and forgiveness and to pray to Allah for His mercies. Let’s use this opportunity to reach out to each and every one of us and spread love peace harmony and community living and friendship,” she stressed.
