Ramadan: Pastor distributes food items to IDPs in Kaduna

The General Overseer of the Church of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Pastor Yohannah Buru yesterday distributed food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Persons With Disability in line with the Ramadan spirit.
The items which include; millets and maize according to Pastor Buru will enable these less privileged citizens to prepare food for their families during the fasting period.
He encouraged the Muslim Umma to particularly use the 30 days fasting to seek Allah’s intervention to end the bloodshed and killings in the northern part of the country which is becoming a threat to national security and economic development.
He added that, he was also planning to pay the fines of some Muslim convicts from the prison so that they can go home to their families and have good Ramadan period.
He appealed to traders across the region to cut down on prices of foodstuffs, to enable Nigerians and others with different religious beliefs to buy food commodities at affordable price during the period.
“We must support our brothers and sisters with what to eat in these 30 days in view of the high cost of food items in the markets,” he said.
In his remarks, Chairman, Joint National Association of Persons With Disability, (JONAPWD), Kaduna State chapter, Comrade RilwanAbdullahi, commended Pastor Buru for the kind gesture, saying it will surely help his members during the period; and called on wealthy Muslims to remember the less privileged in the society.
Also responding on behalf of IDPs in the state, Maman Aisha GamboruNgala, who is a refugee from Borno state, said it is only Allah that will reward Pastor Buru.
HajiyaGamboruNgala who said she received maize and millets with some amount of money, said she is now fully prepared for the holy month of Ramadan. She however called on wealthy individuals to come to the aid of refugees by supplying them with foods to break their fast during the period.
