The Rector of Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Kazaure has appealed to members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic to suspend the ongoing strike and go back to their respective classes.

Adamu who made the call during the opening ceremony of the Zonal Executive Council meeting of the Union (Zone A) held in Kazaure on 26th February, 2014, said that the strike would have a negative effect on the future of the students’ academic pursuit.

Represented by the Deputy Rector, Mrs. Gaji Bello Hussaini, the Rector pleaded with the Union to solve issues bothering the Union amicably and urged them to save the lives of teeming students roaming the streets because of the ongoing strike.

In his response, the National Secretary General of ASUP Comrade Usman Ndah Umar, thanked the Rector for the advice and appealed to the Government to reach agreement with then union

He said ASUP was compelled to continue the strike in view of the Government’s lukewarm attitude at addressing the 13 – point’s demands of the Union.
