Redouble effort to develop FCT – Bello charges Councils’ Chairmen, others

The outgoing FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has charged Area Councils’ chairmen to double efforts in providing basic amenities especially primary health care, sanitation and education to people within their domains, so as to improve standard of living at the rural areas.
Bello said there is urgent need to intensify efforts to bridge widening gaps between those living in city centre and satilite towns.
Bello noted that with growing population in the territory, there is urgent need to improve on services at area councils to mitigate creation of two cities.
Speaking at handover ceremony to the permanent secretary, Christian Oha, as acting minister, he opined that those living in area councils also deserves good living through better infrastructure provision.
The Minister who served for about three and half years charged the traditional rulers in the country especially those in FCT to help political office holders connect to the teeming youth in their domains by opening robust channels of communications with them on the need to end drug abuse, cultism, and other unpatriotic acts.
Also, the outgoing Minister equally charged FCTA workers not to relent on the area of enforcement of relevant extant laws.
He equally charged managers and operators of the city to continue to improve on security, enforcement and development, to march the increasing growth of the Territory.
Responding, Permanent Secretary, FCT Administration, now acting FCT Minister, sir Chinyeaka Christian Ohaa, assured that FCT will remain on the path of sustainable development.
Ohaa announced that as a parting gift, the out Minister approved the elevation of 42 Deputy Directors to the office of directors, a development which he described as apt.
