Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday flagged off the distribution of 100 trucks of rice and N1.2 billion in aid to support vulnerable households across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The effort, carried out in partnership with the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Political and Other Matters, focuses on Muslim communities ahead of the Eid al-Adha celebrations.

At the flag-off ceremony in Kaduna, Mrs. Tinubu said this gesture shows solidarity with the Muslim Ummah in Northern Nigeria and turns the season’s message of sacrifice and compassion into real support.

“As we approach Eid Al-Kabir, a season of sacrifice, compassion, and gratitude, this effort converts the message of the season into relief for vulnerable Muslim communities across all northern states and the Federal Capital Territory,” she stated.

The First Lady explained that the items and funds would be distributed through already-established state coordinating committees. “I am pleased to officially launch the distribution of 100 trucks of rice and N1.2 billion to the 19 northern states and the FCT. May these aid measures provide comfort to every household benefiting from this gesture,” she added.

Mrs. Tinubu noted that this initiative follows a similar aid distribution to Christian communities across Northern Nigeria on December 23, 2025. She reaffirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration remains committed to reforms that will yield long-term benefits for Nigerians.

She also praised the Special Adviser to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, for coordinating the program. In his remarks, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani described the initiative as a reflection of compassionate leadership and national unity. He said the President and the First Lady have continuously demonstrated their commitment to Nigerians’ welfare through targeted social programs.

“Together, President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady exemplify a model of leadership rooted in service, compassion, and unity,” Governor Sani said.

The governor added that the Kaduna State Government remains dedicated to mitigating the impacts of economic reforms by supporting small and medium enterprises, youth empowerment, agricultural development, and ongoing investment in security.

He urged the Muslim faithful to remain patient, united, and resilient amid current economic challenges. Sani also called on religious leaders and community stakeholders to keep preaching peace, brotherhood, and mutual support across communities.
