The House of Representatives Committee on Renewable Energy, in collabration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) revealed plans to host the maiden National Legislative Conference on Renewable Energy and Expo.

It will be organized under the framework of the House’s Parliamentary Development Programme in collaboration with the UNDP.

They said the conference is envisioned as a national forum to galvanize stakeholders across the legislative, policy, investment, and development communities in support of Nigeria’s clean energy agenda.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, the Chairman of the House Committee on Renewable Energy, Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, said the gathering will provide a strategic platform to craft a legislative roadmap aimed at boosting investment, accelerating development, and ensuring inclusive access to renewable energy across the country.

The Lawmaker said the conference will feature robust discussions on legislative frameworks, energy transition strategies, innovative financing models, and policy harmonization between the federal and sub-national governments.

“This conference comes at a critical juncture in the evolution of Nigeria’s power sector,” he noted. “Recent constitutional and legislative reforms have created fresh opportunities to rethink and restructure our energy landscape.”

“I therefore commend the initiator of this project and a mentee of our late brother, Hon. Bamidele Salam. His consistent efforts to sustain the legacy of Senator Isiaka Adeleke are deeply appreciated by the entire Adeleke dynasty and all admirers of our late leader and brother.

“It is my expectation that the centre will run programmes of various dimensions on political leadership. The nation today needs more leaders equipped with skills in open governance, consensus building, public-spiritedness, and selfless public service. The centre under Adeleke University can serve as a valuable platform for imparting those skills.”
