
House of Representatives is considering the request for the creation of Kurya Madaro local government out of the present Kaura Namoda local government area of Zamfara state.
Already, a memorandum pushing for the creation of the local government with headquarters at Kasuwar Daji has been submitted to Rt Hon. Aminu Sani jaji on Thursday for onward submission to the House committee on Constitutional Amendment.
Jaji who represents Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji federal constituency of Zamfara state who expressed optimism that the request for the creation of the local government which is long overdue would be approved under by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration.
Jaji who is the Chairman of the House committee on Ecological Fund noted that with six wards and a population of over 400,000, coupled with the support of the people the area, the request for the new local government would be endorsed.
Recalling unsuccessful attempt made to ensure the creation of the local government council within the last 46 years, he remarked that the people of the area will enjoy sustainable development and security with the granting of financial and administrative autonomy to local government councils in the country.
Hon. Abdullahi Majidadi who led critical stakeholders and community leaders from the proposed Local Government area explained that the request for the creation of Kurya-Madaro Local Government Area out of the present Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area is in line with the yearning and aspiration of the people on the area.
He disclosed that the proposed Local Government comprise six (6) local government wards namely Kurya-Madaro, Sakajiki, Banga, Kyambarawa, Kagara and Dan Isah wards all in the present Kaura Namoda LGA.
Justifying the need for the creation of the new local government, he noted: “It is deemed appropriate to demand for the creation of Kurya-Madaro Local Government area for the fact that Kaura Namoda Local Government Area is currently amongst the most populated and largest Local Government Areas in Zamfara State by landmass.
“The people of the proposed Local Government Area oo-exist peacefully and harmoniously sharing the same traditions and cultural values.
“As earlier stated, prior to the creation of Zamfara State and indeed after several requests were submitted demanding for the creation of Kurya -Madaro Local Government unfortunately the requests did not receive favourable consideration. It is believed that, the present Administration may honour our request because of its potency and pursuit for even development.”
