There are strong indications that the All Progressives Congress (APC) may face serious challenge in recapturing Adamawa State in the forthcoming 2015 general elections as stakeholders hitherto loyal to the impeached Adamawa state governor, Admiral Murtala Nyako, have started shifting their loyalties to the new Acting governor of the state, Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri.

Our correspondent in Yola reports that six out of the eight members of the House of Representatives from the state paid a solidarity visit to the acting Governor at the Government House, Yola, on Friday.

The members who were led by Hon Anthony Madwatte, member representing Numan/Lamurde/Demsa federal constituency expressed their support for the acting governor adding that they will do their best to ensure the success of his regime.

Those on the entourage include Abubakar Madaki Wambai representing Maiha/Mubi North/Mubi South federal constituency, Titsi Ganama, Michika/Madagali,  Haske Haldu Hananiya, Hong/Gombi, Wangubi Fons,  Jada/Toung /Ganye/Mayo Belwa  and Gibson Nathaniel representing Guyuk/Shelleng Federal Constituency.

However members representing Fufure/Song and Yola North,/Yola South/Girei  Yerima Aminu Ribadu and  Aisha Dahiru Ahmad Binani who were not in the entourage have also enlisted their support for the new regime.

While responding, the acting governor thanked the legislators promising to do his best to correct the wrongs of the past in order to enhance development of the state. He also promised to refund the sum of N142m deducted from the salaries of civil servants by the previous administration.

Fintiri also pledged to pay the outstanding salary arrears of September and October 2012 owed the civil servants by the government.

He said his administration is working with all stakeholders in the state with the aim of charting the most viable alternative towards the enhancement of the welfare of all the people of the state just as he said his administration will welcome genuine advice from all stakeholders.

Similarly, 16 out of the 25 sacked commissioners under former governor Nyako’s Government have paid same solidarity visit to the new Acting Governor.

Leader of the delegation, former commissioner of Rural Infrastructure and Development, Aminu Iyawa, said they were at the Government House to see Fintiri on the modalities for the proper handing over after the announcement of their sack.

Also on the list of the solidarity were the 21 local government chairmen in the state led by the state ALGON Chairman, Sahabu Jauro, of Fufore Local Government who told the Acting Governor of their readiness to support his government of necessity so as to deliver dividends of democracy to the electorates in the state.

It has been widely speculated that all the 21 council chairmen are making serious consultations with a view to dumping the APC for the ruling PDP.

When contacted for confirmation on the speculation, the ALGON chairman refused to answer calls directed to his mobile phone and did not reply SMS sent to his receiver phone on the matter by this reporter as of the time of filing this report.
