The House of Representatives on Thursday approved a supplementary budget of N98.5 billion for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the 2024 statutory appropriation act.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Aliyu Betera, Chairman of the House Committee on FCT, passed second and third reading at plenary.
Betera explained that the supplementary budget was necessary to accommodate additional inflows from the FCT Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), as requested by President in a communication to the House on May 16, 2024.
According to him, the House Committee on FCT met with the Minister and other officials to review the request, and subsequently adopted the report, authorizing the issuance of N98.5 billion from the FCT statutory revenue fund.
He added that the communication sought approval for a supplementary budget to the FCT 2024 Statutory Appropriation Act of the FCTA of the sum of N98,500,000,000 only.
This, according to him is with a view to accommodate additional inflows from the FCT Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
“In accordance with Sections 62, 80, 88, 89 and 299 of the Constitution of the 1999 as amend the House Committee met with the Minister and other relevant officials of FCT.”
The House however adopted the report of the committee on FCT on a bill for an Act to authorise the issue from the FCTA statutory revenue fund of the FCTA account to the sum of N98.5 billion.
