Reps summon oil firms, over missing pet products

The House of Representaives Adhoc Committee on the review of Pump Price of Petroleum has summoned the Managing Directors Carter Petroleum limited and Energy Network IBG limited to appear before its and explain the whereabout of missing petroleum products traced to them.
Chairman of the adhoc Committee Rep. Nnanna Igbokwe (PDP-Imo), said thosr invited has cases to answer, and urged them to show transparency and honesty in responding to their questions.
The lawmaker dislcosed the level of culpability of the oil firms, flowing from available records before the committee which showed that they were engaged in various forms of transactions.
He added that from the transactions they were expected to pay some funds to government but to no avail.
The committee also observed that some oil companies gave fake office addresses which also called to question their credibility.
Prior to the summon, the committee which interfaced with some of the companies under probe, expressed displeasure in the habit by the CEOs to send low level officers to the hearing.
Lanre Alabi had announced his appearance on behalf or Stars Energy limited, saying that he received a text late, the previous evening and had to come and find out why they were being summoned by the panel.
Also Okoye Ifeoma of Dutch Masters Limited and Adeola Adeleko of T-Time Petroleum said they also got the information via a text message and a phone call from somebody at the PPMC.
In his ruling, Igbokwe directed that the companies make available all records and certificates issued to them in all their transactions.
