The House of Representatives has charged the Director General of the NYSC, Ahmed Yushau and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to ensure the rescue of a missing NYSC corps member, Emeka Okeke.
The call was made yesterday following a motion of urgent public importance moved by Nnolim Nnaji on the floor of the House.
It would be recalled that Okeke, a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, serving in Akure, the Ondo State capital, disappeared in May.
Mr Nnaji, in his motion, explained the efforts of the parents of the missing corper to locate their son, with little or no effort from the government.
The lawmaker also highlighted the several instances of attacks on NYSC members in the place of primary assignments, and lack of decent accommodation.
Following the presentation of the motion, the House resolved that President Bola Tinubu should direct the two officials to provide security and decent accommodation to corp members.
The House also called for a coordinated search and rescue operation to locate the missing corps member.
