The re-scheduled primaries of the Ogun Central Senatorial District of the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) that was expected to hold yesterday (Tuesday) has again hit the rocks.

Peoples Daily reliably report that hundreds of delegates that ought to vote at the party primary converged at the party secretariat located along Presidential Boulevard, Abeokuta for the congress, but only to discover that, no arrangement was put in place by the leadership of the party.

The Chairman of the party in the state, Dayo Bayo on Sunday announced the congress postponement till Tuesday, as a result of what he called lack of conducive atmosphere during the Sunday exercise.

However, adhering to the chairman’s directive, the aspirants for the senatorial ticket, Bisola Sodipo-Clark and Lanre Laoshe appeared at the party secretariat for the proposed rescheduled primaries, but were shocked when it dawn on them that, no arrangement was on ground.

The duo denied comment over the development, but had to leave after waiting endlessly for awhile, while all the delegates also left in disappointment.

Investigation by our correspondent revealed that the party chairman, Dayo Bayo had been summoned to the national headquarters of the party in Abuja over alleged illegal conduct of governorship primaries in the state on Monday, as against a directive from the party’s National Working Committee.

Efforts to reach the party chairman to react to the failure to conduct the senatorial primaries proved abortive, as he did not pick calls nor respond to text messages.
