From Mustapha Adamu, Kano
Residents of Riga Fada area in Kumbotso Local Government area of Kano State yesterday appealed to government and other concerned authorities to consider their plight and repair their poll wires which were damaged as a result of powerful rainstorm a fortnight ago.
Our reporter visited the area and discovered that the area was hit by blackout for a period of two weeks, after a heavy downpour and rainstorm damaged many poll wires, which prompted residents of the area to make this appeal.
Speaking, the area’s district head, Alhaji Ali Dahiru, called on the government to come to their rescue and restore their electricity to enable them continue to enjoy daily usage.
However, the district head had cautioned the residents to always switch-off their electric connections before they sleep in the night to avoid replica of the incident, adding that “failure to comply with this caution would cause more problem than this”, he stated.
But when contacted, the Kano State Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), through its Public relations Officer, Mukhtar Baffa Usman, said the firm is not aware of the incident, but assured that they would urgently investigate the problem and make repairs.
