The Adamawa State Commissioner for Health, Mrs Lilian Stephen, said on Wednesday, that the intense heat being witnessed in the state has caused the death of two persons.

The commissioner told newsmen while reacting to the submission of the member representing Jada constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon Hamman Yettisuri, who during Wednesday’s sitting, said at least four people from Kilbawo and Jada wards of his constituency died of cholera attack while 13 others were hospitalized.

Stephen said, “Following the disclosure of the member representing Jada Constituency, we deployed our team of experts who reported that there was no cholera outbreak in the area except two persons who died of intense heat.

The commissioner added that the state Government has provided Oral Rehydration Treatment (ORT), for the patients, urging people to compliment the government’s efforts by improving sanitary conditions

in and around their environs.

The Chairman House Committee on Health, Hon. Abubakar Jarengol, representing Mubi North, also corroborated the position of the Health Commissioner.
