The Rivers state Governorship candidate of the Accord Party (AP) in the 2023 general elections, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs has withdrawn his appeal at the Supreme Court against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Lulu-Briggs in his 2024 New Year message to Rivers people, said the gesture was his contribution to reducing tension in an overheated Rivers polity, saying it is a token of his commitment to a peaceful Rivers State.
In the message signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Nia’bari Fakae, Lulu-Briggs noted that 2023 was a very difficult year for many Rivers people during which their livelihoods and security were compromised.
He said the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State if not halted, would further worsen the lot of the people.
He commended Rivers people for standing resolute against undemocratic and unconstitutional tendencies.
Lulu-Briggs while wishing Rivers people a Happy New Year, said 2024 provides an opportunity to stop and ponder.
He called on the warring groups involved in the political crisis in the state to sheath their swords and imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, love, and reconciliation
