Governors elected of the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have scheduled an emergency meeting for tomorrow (Tuesday) in Abuja.
The meeting, which will hold under the aegis of PDP Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF), is expected to take at the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, by 3pm.
The emergency meeting, according to one of the PDP-GF members, is not unconnected with the crisis playing out in the Rivers State, in which the State Governor, Mr Similaye Fubara and his predecessor in office Barrister Nyeson Wike are at the centre of it.
Wike is presently the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Rivers State is one of the States under the control of PDP.
According to the PDP-GF member, who did not want his name mentioned, “This emergency meeting has become imperative because we can not afford to close our eyes while things are going wrong.
“As a Forum (PDP-GF), we must act fast to ensure that this crisis doesn’t go out of hands as such will not be to the benefit of anybody”, he said.
The source further hinted that the forthcoming off cycle governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi States will also be discussed at the meeting.
Other issues of national importance are also expected to be discussed at the meeting.
