In furtherance to its effort to rid Abuja, the nation’s capital city of illegal parking and other irregularities of vehicular operations, the Directorate of Road Traffic Service (DRTS) has impounded over three hundred vehicles, Tricycle known as Keke Napep and Commercial Motorcycles otherwise known as Okada in different locations in the city.
Speaking to Journalists yesterday, Director of the Directorate, Abdulateef Bello disclosed that the impounded vehicles, are presently facing trail at Mobile Court for varying traffic violations ranging from alleged indiscriminate parking, road unworthiness, illegal parking, unregistered and unpainted taxi, to driving rickety vehicles among others.
Bello noted that with the renewed directive of the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike to rid the city of nuisances, DRTS will not relent on its effort to ensure offenders are made to face punitive measures, to serve as deterrence to others.
He also reiterated that with the review of the law guiding motor vehicles operations in FCT and followed with the immediate prosecution of offenders by FCT mobile Court, it will curtail the rising cases of traffic violators in FCT.
While calling on the FCT road users to maintain traffic rules and regulations, DRTS boss noted that it is working with Transport Secretariat to ensure policy implementation towards a zero tolerance to traffic violators in FCT.
