There was pandemonium in Katsina-Ala local government area of Benue state, as over 15 armed robbers raided a market called Tom-Anyiin and kidnapped a trader.
The entire market and the town were in disarray after the incident which happened at the early hours, making traders and the residents to scamper for safety.
It was observed that the robbers who stormed the market in a commando
style, shot sporadically into the air to scare away the traders even as the police were said to have arrived the scene of the incident after the robbers had successfully carried out the nefarious act..
However, some of the market women had embarked on a peaceful protest while carrying leaves and chanting slogans, as they demanded for the immediate release of the kidnapped trader.
When contacted, the state’s Police Public Relations’ Officer, SP Daniel Ezeala said he was yet to be briefed.
