Two Turkish-based players will certainly not feature for the Super Eagles when they meet Libya in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Tuesday, with manager Gernot Rohr confirming that Eddy Onazi and Abdullahi Shehu face a spell on the sidelines.
Trabzonspor’s Onazi suffered a training ground injury on Thursday while Bursaspor defender Shehu had to make way for Ola Aina after 19 minutes in yesterday’s match in Uyo due to injury.
“Abdullahi Shehu suffered a muscle contraption in the quadriceps on his right leg during the game. It was not a groin injury. He’s going to be out of action for the second game,’’ Rohr said post-match.
“We also lost Ogenyi Onazi who has an inflammation on his Achilles. He won’t be traveling with us to Tunisia, We have 22 players for the second game in Tunisia.’’
The Super Eagles thrashed the Mediterranean Knights 4-0 on Saturday thanks to an Odion Ighalo hat-trick and a brilliant goal from Samuel Kalu.
