RoLAC/British Council donates sanitizers facemasks, others to hope center Numan

The Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC), in conjunction with the British Council has donated personal protective equipment to the hope center Numan.
Delivering the materials to the Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Numan, the State project coordinator of RoLAC, Hafsat Abdullahi noted that the gesture became imperative in view of the need to protect the front-line health workers at the center.
Abdullahi noted that the daily exposure of the health workers to COVID-19, made her organization being the major force behind the establishment of the center deemed it fit to protect the project adding that the need to give them protection has become sacrosanct.
She noted that the rising cases of COVID-19 in the state indicated high cases of community transmission of the disease which prodded RoLAC to take positive steps to protect both health workers and patients.
Abdullahi noted that the hope center in Numan is vital because of its strategic position as the first replica in the whole North East region as such attention must be given to the health concerns of its workers.
She called on parents not to hesitate in reporting any rape incident to the center, adding that unlike police station where survivors most often go through traumatising experiences, the hope center gives hope and confidentiality to such survivors.
Abdullahi noted that of utmost importance to the survivor is the first class cogent and first hand medical report she/he received from the center which in most cases obviates the need for witness to prove a rape case before the court.
She also noted that the center also ensures the trauma that the survivor is managed well adding that the issue of confidentiality is of paramount importance.
Abdullahi promised to provide more drugs, and training to the staff of the health center to make its functions more robust and called on the local government to continue with the program after it elapsed.
Also commenting, the chairman of Numan local government of Adamawa State Hon Innocent Koto thanked RoLAC for the gesture adding that it will go a long way in saving the lives of front line workers and their patients.
The chairman who was represented by the secretary of the local government council, Hon. Nagapiya Foredan assured RoLEC it will ensure judicious use of the items.
Also commenting, Asalina Apasa the Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care, Numan LG thanked the organization for the gesture.
She noted that the center has six staff adding that since its establishment, the center has attended to 20 rape cases.
Apasa called on RoLAC to organise capacity building workshops for the staff, train case managers, provide financial support and also provide data tools dot documentation.
Items donated include; 25 packs of hand gloves, 20 packs of (3PLY) facemasks, 2 packs of (N95) facemasks, 45 units of hand sanitizers, 25 units of (JIK) disinfectant, and 10 units of Nylon Apron.
