Runsewe to introduce cultural day in IBB ladies golf tourney 2018

The Director General National Council for Arts and Culture Otunba Runsewe has revealed plans to introduced and promote culture during the 20th edition of IBB Ladies open golf tourney game which is slated to hold 8th to 11th of February, 2018.
Runsewe made this known while receiving a delegation from the IBB Golf and Country Club led by female Captain, Grace Ihonvbere at the Headquarters of the Council in Abuja.
He said that his plan was to introduce a cultural dimension to the forthcoming Ladies Open suggesting that a day will be dedicated to culture during the event wherein Nigerian arts, cuisines, music and dance, dress among others will be on show in a friendship arena aimed at promoting things of interest that are also culture friendly.
The DG further stated that the culture day will underscore the need to celebrate Nigeria’s rich and diverse cultures as both Golfers and guests alike are treated to the best of Nigeria in all ramifications.
He pointed out that Golf remains the biggest sporting event in the world capable of generating huge returns which could massively impact the economy of any country given the fact that over 6 billion dollars is already in international Golf circles.
Runsewe said that the time had come to incorporate our indigenous culture into the sport in order to build a very strong cultural relationship among players.
Responding , the Female Captain of the IBB golf club ,Mrs. Ihonvbere said the courtesy call to the DG was to solicit support and partnership as the sporting event draws near and plans are being wrapped up to host a successful Ladies Golf tournament.
