Rural business: Jigawa gov’s wife disburses N176m to 35,270 women

No fewer than 35,270 rural women are to benefit N5,000 each as part of the support from wife of Jigawa state governor, Hajiya Magajiya Muhammad Badaru.
Speaking at the distribution of the empowerment grant held at Kafin Hausa local government area of the state, Hajiya Magajiya said, empowering woman is equal to empowering the whole family.
She explained that, the N5,000 empowerment grant can be look as small, but it is not small in the content of small scale business women and it can make difference.
According to her, N5,000 is enough take up capital for rural business woman such as groundnut oil seller, food vendor, etc.
Hajiya Magajiya added that, through women empowerment you can tackle so many challenges militating our society, such as child malnutrition and domestic disturbances/violence.
“In this round of empowerment, 10 women were selected from each of 3,527 pooling unit in the state as beneficiary of the scheme.
“The total sum of N176,350,000 were approved for the disbursement to the targeted beneficiaries,” the first lady said.
Hajiya Magajiya who described present administration in the state as women’s government said, about 88,035 women have supported with goats and over 540 food vendors have received supported with N20,000 each to improve their business.
Speaking on behalf of 2,030 beneficiaries women in Kafin Hausa local government, Talatu Garba expressed their gratitude to the state government on the gesture, and also promised to continue supporting governor Badaru administration to achieve its desire goals of taking Jigawa state to next level.
