Rustling of meat with tyres dangerous to health, says Association

The secretary of Gwagwalada Butchers Association in the FCT, comrade Suleiman Idrisu, has said that rustling of meat with tyres is dangerous to human health.
The secretary, who stated this while speaking with newsmen at Gwagwalada Abattoir on Thursday, urging the butchers to use firewood to rustle the meat instead of using tyres that is harmful to them.
He noted that burning of tyres during the meat rustling by the butchers could cause environmental hazards in the society.
He said the leadership of the association would continue to counsel the butchers or youths against using tyres to rustling their meat, while advising them to stop the act for the sake of their health.
He further said the leadership of the association alongside other unions would not hesitate to join hands to evacuate wastages in Gwagwalada Abattoir.
The secretary, however, appealed to the FCT Administration, especially the veterinary department to help the butcher association with the modern engine or gas that would be used for the meat rustling.
When contacted one of the officials of the veterinary section at Abattoir to comment on the rustling of meat with tyres, he declined to talk.
