To ensure the safety of the populace in Abuja, during the just concluded 2024 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations by Muslim faithful, the FCT Police Command proactively deployed material and human resources at its disposal across the nooks and crannies of Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The deployment was characterized by visibility policing, the deployment of explosive ordinance devices (EOD) experts and personnel at various prayer grounds, recreational centers, event centres, raids on identified black spots, uncompleted buildings/shanties, stop and search.
Others include; vehicular and foot patrol, all envisioned to ensure that FCT residents enjoyed a peaceful and serene atmosphere, before, during and post Eid celebrations.
Also, there were diversion points in the territory, some of which includes: diversion point around Eid ground by airport interchange to games village and Jabi by airport road into the main city.
According to a statement from the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Command had in anticipation of Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, proactively deployed material and human resources at the Command’s disposal across the FCT.
The statement added that the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth Igweh reassured the populace of his commitment to ensure the safety of all and sundry.
It noted that Igweh particularly urged residents to give the police operatives utmost cooperation, as the deployments is solely aimed at ensuring their safety.
